Futterhaus shifts up a gear

15 further new store openings scheduled in Germany by the end of the year

Germany’s second-biggest pet store chain Futterhaus increased its sales in the first six months of 2012 by 14.6 per cent to € 114.3 mio (first six months of 2011: € 99.7 mio). Like-for-like sales by the franchise company also increased sharply by 6.6 per cent to € 104.1 mio. In Germany, the retailer’s sales increased by 12.6 per cent to € 109 mio. The Austrian market accounted for € 5.2 mio of total sales, an increase of 84.4 per cent compared with the first six months of the previous year.
The corporate group has also extended its market network further, with 14 new openings in Germany and one new store in Austria. As of the end of June, Futterhaus operated 267 outlets (including 14 in Austria). 15 further new openings in Germany and six in Austria are planned by the end of the year.
