Mars Petcare: A better world for pets

As a major multinational company, Mars assumes a special responsibility for the future development of the pet food industry. In keeping with the company’s global vision – “We make a better world for pets” – Mars Petcare will host topics at this year’s Interzoo that are crucial to the market growth of tomorrow in the category of pet food and pet requisites: Preventive weight management: Mars now provides pet owners with new, important information on maintaining a healthy body weight in dogs and cats. “Oral health in cats and dogs”: together with scientists, Mars is developing the dental care snack segment and is promoting awareness of the subject with opinion-formers. “Human-animal relationships”: Mars supports scientific and practical research into the human-companion animal bond and promotes public awareness of it for close and multifaceted cohabitation with pets. Perspectives 2030: Mars is closely focused on the future of pet owning, and predicts the potential for development of the pet sector based on the general conditions in the future. Experts in the four areas will speak at the fair. They include Dr Britta Dobenecker of the Department of Pet Nutrition and Dietetics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, Wolfgang Fuchs, veterinarian and pet knowledge manager at Mars Petcare Deutschland, Prof. Dr Kurt Kotrschal, head of the Konrad Lorenz Research Station and professor at the Department of Behavioural Biology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Vienna, and Antje Schünemann, M.A., senior consultant at Trendbüro Hamburg. www.mars.de
