It shouldn't be forgotten that among the founding firms of Interzoo, Eheim was one of the first exhibitors and supporters of this trade fair. Rumours circulating that Eheim was up for sale have been refuted by a clear statement from the company that a sale is not on the agenda, and the company will continue to operate.When asked by PETworldwide, the company conceded that its sales figures last year were not in line with expectations. However, its current order situation is reported to be very positive. 
A poor delivery performance was blamed on the software switch to SAP being far more difficult than envisaged, meaning that orders could not be delivered on time. Action has now been taken that should guarantee a rising delivery quota, with the target figure of 95-99 per cent being achieved in one to two months.
The decision to expand its range strategically to become a full-range supplier by adding the product groups of ornamental fish food and a garden pond assortment was taken with the agreement of the management, advisory board and shareholders, Eheim stresses.

Fundamental restructuring

A number of senior managers left the company by mutual consent on 31 March for operational reasons. These were the marketing manager Marius Dittert, sales manager Gebhard Mang, the head of development and the operations and logistics managers.
Following the departure of several top staff, Eheim has carried out fundamental restructuring of the organisation. Distribution has been reorganised and the company now intends to concentrate on decentralised, regional customer service. The Europe Region will now be looked after by Sascha Rösner and South America by Jan-Christoph Struck, who has worked in distribution at Eheim for a number of years. Hidenari Morohashi will retain responsibility for Asia, while North America will continue to be the responsibility of Daniel ­Stopnicki. 
The logistics function has likewise been restructured. Purchasing is currently being managed by Ralf Oberle, the long-standing buyer for Eheim. The production brief falls to Thomas Hermann, who was previously involved in production planning and control, together with managing director Gebhard Wagenblast.
