Mars Inc. completed its acquisition of the Iams and Eukanuba brands from Procter & Gamble in Australia and New Zealand. The American company Grill-Phoria recalled approximately two hundred 3.5 oz bags of Big Bark All Natural Beef Jerky Treats for Dogs because they had the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.The UK-based pet retail group Pets Corner achieved strong growth in its financial year, with like-for-like sales in its second quarter up 9.2 percent and 15.2 percent in its third quarter. Pets Corner operates 92 stores in the UK.The Dutch firm Daja Holding announced that it was taking over the Dutch shopfitter and aquarium specialist Aquaja. The new production facility is located in Echt/Netherlands.For the 5th consecutive year, the French company Zolux won the Supplier of the Year award at the 9th edition of the Animal Challenge, an annual event in France. The American dog accessories brand Alcott is now available to retailers in Europe. Alcott Europe GmbH, which is based in Hamburg in Germany, has assumed responsibility for marketing.West Paw Design, the US supplier of accessories for dogs and cats, partnered with Warmako as its exclusive distributor in the Benelux market.The Dutch companies Laroy Duvo, Witte Molen and CéDé will trade together in the market in future as the Laroy Group. The new Laroy Group will employ around 160 staff in three plants in Belgium and the Netherlands.Aller Petfood leaves the Turkish market as a producer. In January 2014 Aller Petfood entered the Turkish pet food market with great enthusiasm about its future in this market. The US pet retailer PetSmart announced it had decided to close three PetsHotels in the Chicago Land area in an effort to protect pets from the spread of the canine influenza virus.Rondo Pet Food, the German manufacturer of snacks and treats, was set to acquire the snack business of the French manufacturer BHJ Adax Pet Snacks. The companies agreed to relocate the production of dog and cat snacks previously manufactured by Adax to three Rondo Food plants.Central Garden & Pet Company reported net sales of $497.6 mio, a decrease of $4 mio or one per cent, compared with $501.6 mio in the second quarter of the previous year.
The American packaging firm Coveris announced the acquisition of New Zealand packaging company Elldex Packaging.The Dutch garden centre franchise group Intratuin expects to attract and convert "around 50 garden centres" to its system in Germany in the near future.The…
