The first Pet Conference took place in Wiesbaden in November 2004. Over 150 representatives of the industry signed up straight away to listen to top-notch speakers from the pet supplies sector and other sectors of the economy, and to make contact with colleagues, business partners and competitors in a convivial atmosphere. Until then, the industry had not seen anything like this – a platform where retailers and manufacturers could come together, gather new, fresh ideas for their companies and engage in informal discussion of current topics of interest.
Although the first two years of the Pet Conference were limited to the German pet product market in terms of content, 2006 opened a window on topics relating to the industry internationally. The English-speaking International Pet Conference was born. Since then the German Pet Conference and the International Pet Conference have been staged in alternate years, attracting between 150 and 200 delegates respectively. They are two of the leading conference events in the pet supplies industry, organised by Dähne Verlag, publisher of the pet and PET worldwide trade magazines, and the well-known conference organiser Management Forum, which belongs to the Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt.
Those familiar with the conference appreciate the range of topics it covers, the calibre of the speakers appearing and the large number of high-profile industry experts from near and far who attend regularly as visitors – not to mention the superb networking opportunities.
After all, most delegates attending trade conferences want to make new contacts and maintain their existing ones. It is for this reason that so-called “business speed dating” will take place for the first time this year at the International Pet Conference. Here conference attendees will have the opportunity to make the maximum number of business contacts in the minimum of time.
