The pet supplies trade fair Pet South America has acquired a high profile in recent years and is considered the most important fair in Latin America. The fair organiser, NürnbergMesse Brazil, aims to build on the success story this year too, and the omens are looking good. The show, which takes place from 29 to 31 October at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, Brazil, will host around 200 national and international exhibitors, and 20 000 visitors are expected. “The event will feature national and international exhibitors, several parallel events and themed pavilions and Chinese aquarists. Furthermore this edition will figure an important partnership with the Regional Council of Veterinarian Medicine of the State of São Paulo (SP-CRMV), who’ll join the Congress of Specialties in Pet South America to provide cutting edge content that will unite technical issues, science, law, professional ethics, entrepreneurship, and business management with a focus on professional development of the veterinarian,” says the organiser. 1 600 delegates attended the last edition of the Paulista Specialty Congress. In 2013, São Paulo’s Society of Veterinarian Medicine (SPMV), in partnership with SP-CRMV and NürnbergMesse Brazil, will discuss the latest veterinary medicine, animal welfare and public health, in line with market movements, during the three days of the congress. Seminar on management and marketing Apart from the veterinary congress, the show also offers a seminar on management and marketing. It is targeted at veterinarians, retailers and entrepreneurs in the pet segment. Its goal is to provide cutting-edge content for professionals to promote growth and market development. The seminar will feature renowned speakers working in the pet market, says NürnbergMesse Brazil. GS & MD, a specialist in retail, marketing and distribution, will give its own lecture in which the Pet Brazil 2013 Study will be presented. This is a complete report giving consumption figures for products and services for dogs and cats. Figures from the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Products for Pets (Abinpet) also show that the fair is worth visiting to get to know the Latin American and in particular the Brazilian pet sector. According to these figures, Brazil’s pet market has the second highest sales in the world. Brazil moved R$14.2 bn in 2012, equivalent to 0.39 per cent of the national GDP.
