Laroy Duvo acquires Witte Molen The Belgian pet supplies company Laroy Duvo has acquired the Dutch pet food manufacturer Witte Molen. With over 250 years of experience, Witte Molen produces high quality products for birds, pigeons, rabbits and rodents. The new combination of Laroy Duvo and Witte Molen will result in consolidated sales of approximately € 50 mio and a workforce of 160 people. Witte Molen N.V. is a Netherlands-based holding company with two subsidiaries, Witte Molen B.V. and Allesterin B.V., engaged in the production and sale of nutrition for small animals and birds. The shares of Witte Molen N.V. are listed on NYSE Euronext Amsterdam. Petland’s Adopt-A-Pet programme at an all-time high The franchise pet retail group Petland with retail pet centres across the United States, Canada, Japan, China, Mexico and South Africa recently released the latest numbers from its national Adopt-A-Pet programme, a community service initiative to help place homeless pets in local communities. According to the new survey, in the last 15 years, Petland has found homes for more than 327 000 unwanted or abandoned pets in their communities. Company-wide, participating Petland stores have placed 75 861 homeless puppies and dogs and 240 097 homeless kittens and cats since 1998. Although Petland stores have always accepted other pets like small animals and reptiles, that particular data has only been recorded since 2010. Since then 11 459 large birds, reptiles and litters of small animals have been accepted into the Adopt-A-Pet programme nationwide. Now it is going to bring its store habitats to the USA.
