Once the cake has been cut and the drinks have been handed out at the big stand party (hall 1, stand 335) at 4 o’clock on the Saturday afternoon of the fair, glasses can be properly raised to toast ten years of PET worldwide. The English-language trade magazine has made spectacular progress and become firmly established as part of the international pet supplies scene. At the helm of PET worldwide is the same proven editing and publishing team as for the German trade magazine pet, focusing on the interests and issues of the global pet sector under the stewardship of managing editor Ralf Majer-Abele. The magazine features reports on selected countries, developments at the major retail chains and the latest and most interesting news from the top echelons of the pet product industry. Insider knowledge of the sector The International Pet Conference on 13 and 14 November in Prague promises to be a highlight. Entitled “Pimp my business. Spot market opportunities and exploit them”, the event is organised by Dähne Verlag and Management Forum. The conference will hear presentations by prominent figures in the sector, including Rolf C. Hagen Jr., president and CEO of the Canadian company Rolf C. Hagen, Frank Difatta, former president of the American pet supplies chain Petland, and Alfred Gander, director in charge of international purchasing, private labels, category management and e-commerce at Europe’s leading speciality chain Fressnapf. This issue of PET worldwide includes a detailed preview of the International Pet Conference. An attractive read In the specialist field of aquariums and ponds, Dähne Verlag has added the latest titles on popular subjects to its range of specialist books (in German). One of these is the pictorial “Aquascape – Lebendige Kunstwerke” (“Aquascape – Living Works of Art”), a 232-page book showing the award-winning creations of members of the Creative Aquascape Union (CAU) in Hong Kong. A variety of hints and tips are also offered on designing your own aquarium. “Each individual layout in this book reflects the unique approach of the members to the hobby,” says Japanese aquarist and nature photographer Takashi Amano in his preface to the new pictorial.
