Hosting over 200 exhibitors on an area of 24 000 m², Latin America’s most important trade fair focusing on pets and veterinary medicine offered a broad range of innovations and new products for the tenth time in a row. Between 18 and 20 October, the exhibiting companies presented the 20 000 visitors to Pet South America in the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo above all with trends and new products that focused on the luxury segment, sustainability, health and technology. Products such as shampoos with a gold additive, new GPS trackers and beds drawing on NASA technology, along with educational toys, diagnostic equipment, medicines, vaccines and foods were just some of the highlights that inspired visitors, according to the organiser Nürnberg Messe Brazil. Trade fair and conference In addition to the stands of large and medium-sized companies, the organisers provided a special pavilion this year to give even smaller companies an opportunity to present their products to a wide audience. Twelve small companies exhibited their offerings to the visitors here. Pet products were not the only reason for visiting the Pet South America show, however. The show was also the backdrop to the most important conference for vets and veterinary medicine in Latin America, the Veterinary Specialties Congress (Congresso de Especialidades). The congress was to feature key professional and academic figures from the pet industry to debate 28 veterinary categories from acupuncture to contagious diseases. The congress united the traditional CONPAVEPA (Congresso Paulista de Clínicos Veterinários de Pequenos Animais) and the CONPAVET (Congresso Paulista de Medicina Veterinária). The organisers were extremely satisfied with the response to the pet trade fair and the congress on account of the high number of visitors and exhibitors. “The course of the fair and the visitor numbers we experienced over these three days were really very positive,” explained Nürnberg Messe Brazil. This year’s fair was also representative of the last ten years of Pet South America. “In ten years we have always achieved very good results with this show. The fair has become established as a showcase for the pet supplies and veterinary industry in Latin America and offers an ideal venue for generating new business models and partnerships,” stressed Ligia Amorim, general director of Nürnberg Messe Brazil.
