Pets on air Pet pampering goes online with America’s most interactive and feature-rich website for pet parents now offered by Pet Life Radio. Pet Life Radio is America’s number 1 pet radio network featuring talk shows hosted by the most well-known pet experts, authors and personalities. The pet industry is buzzing with new services that have emerged to offer another level of pet pampering such as pet day care, home holiday care, dog walking and pet cremations and cemeteries. Another successful Zoosphere expected Expectations are high once again for Russia’s oldest and biggest pet supplies fair, with over 150 exhibitors scheduled to appear at the next Zoosphere in St. Petersburg on 17-20 November. The show’s international standing has already been established, according to the exhibition company’s press release; last year’s show attracted exhibitors and visitors not only from all over Russia, but also from Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, China, Brazil und the USA. The organisers would like to repeat and improve on this at this year’s fair. Survey of the pet supplies trade in the USA Although American pet supplies retailers felt the effects of the recession, they have mastered the challenges associated with it quite successfully. This is the verdict of the latest pet speciality retailer study carried out by the trade magazine “Pet Business”. According to the study, 54 per cent of those questioned were “guardedly optimistic” regarding the further development of sales in their stores and 39 per cent were even “very positive”. Only 7 per cent said they were “very negative”. Retailers were also quizzed about which segments and merchandise groups had generated most growth in the last twelve months. Here 39 per cent said natural, holistic and eco-friendly products, 37 per cent said services and 13 per cent pointed to private label products. Featured in fashion magazine Xtra Dog, the European distributor of “Spiffy Dog”, has announced that the “Air Collar” product was featured in the May issue of the world-famous fashion magazine Vogue. The magazine ran a feature called “Pampurred Pets” in which it profiled 10 dog products aimed at the discerning pooch. Vogue printed: “In London, New York, Beverley Hills and Aspen they are wearing Spiffy Dog.
