The China International Pet Show is acknowledged by the world pet industry as the largest and most influential international pet and aquarium trade show in Asia. Once again, the organisers have invited new and old customers and exhibitors to this annual event. The fair is being supported by the China Fisheries Association and China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Association, Pet Food and Articles Inspection and Quarantine Branch. Organised by the China Great Wall International Exhibition Company and Nürnberg Global Fairs, CIPS alternates between Beijing and Guangzhou each year. Since the establishment of CIPS in 1997, the fair has developed rapidly. Its scale increases year by year and the show is highly rated by domestic and foreign customers. More and more professional buyers and suppliers gather for this industry event: several months in advance of this year’s opening, around 600 exhibitors have already confirmed booth reservations and buyers from nearly 50 countries and regions have registered. “We can expect that the eventual scale will exceed the previous show once more,” declares a press release by the organisers. A new exhibit profile added this year is that of equestrian-related products, which include horse treats, apparel, saddles, saddle pads, bridles, stable equipment, groom-ing products, ornaments, healthcare products and other items. International acceptance A year ago, the 13th edition of the CIPS covered 35 000 m² gross (14 500 m² net) and a record number of pet professionals from 68 countries and areas gathered at the fair in Guangzhou. 590 international exhibitors presented their products to an unprecedented figure of nearly 27 000 visitors. A number of new features were successfully launched, including a new supporting programme, bespoke facilities for international visitors and a special area for fish. The show also saw the founding of China’s first national professional pet association, the China Pet Accessory and Food Association (PAFA). As in previous years, special attention was given to intellectual property rights. The 14th CIPS takes place in Beijing from 30 October to 2 November.
