Over 8 800 visitors at the Backer show H.H. Backer’s 42nd Annual Pet Industry Christmas Trade Show and Educational Conference in Rosemont attracted more than 8 800 registered buyers from nearly 2 600 firms. 834 companies occupied 1 338 booths, including 134 first-time exhibitors. Apart from the exhibits themselves, there were many exciting events to keep attendees busy and entertained. New to the Christmas show was the All-Natural area, featuring companies with natural or “green” products representing nearly every segment of the pet industry. Returning to the show was the Aquatic Answers area – this year in its own hall. The area featured aquatic exhibitors and individually tailored “Ask the Expert” sessions between aquatic retailers and well-respected members of the field. H.H. Backer’s 21st Annual Pet Industry Spring Trade Show will be held from 3-5 April 2009 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Md. Backer’s 43rd Annual Pet Industry Christmas Trade Show will be held from 2-4 October 2009, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont (Chicago), Ill. New date for Zoo Expo 2009 The Norwegian pet supplies show Zoo Expo will take place in Oslo on 14 and 15 March 2009. In 2007 it covered a total of 3 500 m², of which about 2 050 m² was occupied by exhibition booths. This was an increase of no less than 25 per cent from 2005. The total number of exhibitors in 2007 was 29. The majority of exhibitors were Norwegian companies, but also several Swedish and Danish companies that work in the Norwegian market were represented. Global Pet Expo in Orlando The international pet trade fair Global Pet Expo will take place in Orlando from 12 to 14 February. Global Pet Expo is organised by the American Pet Products Association (APPA) and Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA). In Orlando, more than 800 companies from around the world will showcase the latest and greatest products available for all types of pets. Global Pet Expo boasts 240 000 net square feet of booth space (22 230 m²), more than 3 000 product launches and 150 first-time exhibiting companies. The trade fair is open to independent retailers, distributors, mass-market buyers, and other qualified professionals, making it the most important gathering of buyers, pet product manufacturers and international attendees in the U.S. The show is not open to the general public.
