Zoo Natura was founded in November 2000. Its first store opened in a retail area of approx. 120 m² in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, which is where the headquarters of this successful retail chain are also based. In the eight years since it was established, the company has developed rapidly. Today more than 150 people work in the twelve stores operated by Zoo Natura: Warsaw (150 m²), Lodz (300 and 160 m²), Krakow (350 and 1.100 m²), Gdynia (150 m²); Poznan (230 m²); Katowice (250 m²), Lublin (200 m2) and Bialystok (550 m²). New outlets in Slupsk (200 m2) and Dabrowa Gornicza (150 m²) were added to the group in September and October of this year. One feature common to all stores is that they are located in well-frequented shopping centres. Extensive range The central office handles around 30 000 different products, and one novelty for a speciality chain of this type is that no private labels are offered. Zoo Natura attaches great importance, however, to ensuring that the range is composed of brands that are well-known internationally, such as Hagen, Tetra, Vitakraft, Gimborn, Animonda, Trixie, Royal Canin and Ferplast. A full range of accessories and food is stocked for each type of pet, and pets including dogs and cats are also sold in the stores. Zoo Natura has announced new store openings in Opole in a retail area of approx. 1 000 m² on 29 November and in Rzeszów on around 500 m² of retail area. The latter is expected to open in the first quarter of next year. Two further outlets are in the pipeline for 2009. Zoo Natura is aiming to open three new stores a year.
