Zolux is the success story of five families who have worked together over the years to create a big business. Today the company offers a full range of over 6 000 products in the accessories segment, as well as distributing treats for birds and small animals. In France the company also acts as a distributor for different companies. Zolux manufactures the majority of its products in-house. In addition to its headquarters in Saintes, the company operates five further sales branches complete with warehouses in Nantes, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Avignon and Reims. Zolux supplies its products to over 40 countries worldwide. Its export business currently accounts for 15 per cent of sales. The company opened its first branch abroad a few weeks ago, in Germany (as reported by PET in Europe). With a workforce numbering over 220 employees in France, Zolux’s annual sales exceed € 42 mio. Since 2002, the company has recorded annual growth rates of over 10 per cent, which is attributable primarily to an optimised brand strategy and improvements in its logistics.Zolux’s product range is split between three family brands: “Zolux” for birds and small animals, “Muscat” for dogs and cats and “Actizoo” for aquariums. With regard to its products Zolux’s priority is the best possible quality at a fair price, and continuous quality monitoring during the production process is extremely important to the company. No less important is the need to revitalise the market with a steady stream of new innovations, which is why the company recently took on the global distribution of cosmetic and care products from the French company Khara. The “Khara” range is already to be found on the shelves of over 600 stores, and three-quarters of all groomers in France alone use products from this firm. Zolux is also hoping to gain new impetus from its recent takeover of the French company Dogs & Co., an innovative supplier of dog and cat accessories.At Interzoo, Zolux demonstrated the dynamism it is able to unleash with the presentation among other things of the new “Snoopy” line of canine accessories, comprising 22 beds, mattresses and cushions for dogs. Dog beds from the “Muscat” range were unveiled in new colours. In the retail business these are presented to maximum effect under a huge umbrella designed by Zolux.
