Pabemia was established at the beginning of the 1990s by the husband and wife team of Beata and Pavel Jachnis. Over the intervening years the company has succeeded in steadily enlarging its product range and customer base. It currently employs 50 people and is based in Warsaw, where its administrative functions, a portion of its warehouse space, a showroom and a pet product retail shop are housed in 6 000 m² premises. Further warehouses are located in Lodz and Mazury, while the company’s production plant is in Wegorzewo, in the north of Poland.
Pabemia’s headquarters are in Warsaw.
Pabemia stocks a range of over 5 000 products covering all categories of goods. In its wholesale business in Poland the company distributes products from renowned firms such as The Iams Company, Hill’s, Eheim, JBL, Mera Dog, Woha Aquarien, Wahl, Savic, Flexi, Sicce, and IPH, to name but a few. As a supplier to the speciality pet trade, Pabemia plays a leading role in the Polish pet product sector.
Alongside products from a number of leading pet product companies Pabemia also offers its customers around 1 000 articles produced in-house, including bird and rodent food – together with sticks and other treats – various types of litter, hygiene products (particularly shampoos), scratching trees, winter bird houses, wooden toys, rabbit cages and aquarium furniture. It attaches great value to high-quality craftsmanship in the manufacture of its products. Because the company only incurs low costs for staff and raw materials at its production site in Wegorzewo, it is able to offer its customers an attractive range of goods at very reasonable prices.
Pabemia estimates that exports account for 25 per cent of its overall sales at present. “We are sure that this proportion will increase sharply in the next few years,” says proprietor Beata Jachnis. The principal export destinations include Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, the Ukraine and the three Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Pabemia chiefly supplies wholesale firms, manufacturers and pet product retailers.
The company also runs two pet product stores in Lodz and Warsaw. The shop at the company’s head office, which currently occupies an area of 200 m², is to be extended and modernized in the next few years.
