Almo Nature has been active in the pet food industry since 1983. After a fairly long and concentrated phase of product development, the company launched its “Almo Nature” line, based on purely natural ingredients, onto the market in 2000. The products were well received by both pets and their owners, and export sales commenced in 2002. Germany was the first country to be targeted, with the establishment of Almo Nature Deutschland GmbH, based in Munich. The German and Austrian markets are serviced from here by a sales manager and a field sales team of eight in all. The „Almo Nature“ brand is also in the shops in Switzerland, and further expansion into Spain, Holland, Denmark and the UK is planned for this year.
In developing its bio pet food, the company started out from the maxim that eating should be a healthy pleasure. As the list of ingredients in the food demonstrates, “Almo Nature” consists only of ingredients with a high nutritional value. The foods have not been subjected to any artificial changes and contain no additives or sugar. “Almo Nature” wet food consists of 75 per cent fresh meat or fish, 24 per cent boiled water and one per cent rice. It comes in 16 varieties for cats and eight varieties for dogs.
In mid-2003, Almo Nature decided to introduce a completely new range of dry food for cats by the name of “Holistic Croquettes by Almo Nature”.  Organic ingredients are used where possible in these products, which are now also marketed in a range for dogs. The products contain 26 per cent fresh meat, something that the company claims is unique, and a controlled and tested proportion of nutraceuticals required by the animal. All the preservatives used are purely natural.

To complete its product spectrum, the company markets the “Bio-Paté” range in trays for dogs and cats, “Nature in Jelly” for cats and “Confisérie” for dogs. This is an innovative dog snack, a crunchy durum wheat biscuit filled with sweet fruit or a tasty cream filling. This product is intended to underline once again the natural basic concept. The product range is being expanded and improved constantly, and to this end the company says it observes the world’s best manufacturers of natural foods on an ongoing basis.  maj
