Off to a new start

Snoozzzeee Dog is back again. After being on the verge of bankruptcy last autumn, the British supplier of dog bedding staged a recovery to exhibit at Expozoo in Paris, albeit under new ownership

The new man is Paul Folden, a former corporate consultant who intends to get the “Snoozzzeee Dog” brand back into shape for the international market. No easy task, since the general air of uncertainty in the sector was initially high following the imminent threat of bankruptcy to the company. “As a corporate consultant, I’m used to listening carefully to clients and then suggesting solutions to a problem”, says Paul Folden. This quality has proved invaluable in various discussions with customers and suppliers in helping to restore lost confidence. And Paul Folden has succeeded, as everyone has remained loyal to Snoozzzeee Dog.

The new owner has already initiated some changes in his first few months in charge. The warehouse and administration have been reorganised and made more efficient. The company’s finances have also been put in order and new financial control systems have been implemented. Kate Power, previously employed by Virginware, is now responsible for marketing and initiatives aimed at strengthening the brand. Jane Turn has assumed control of financial administration, while Jenny Harrison handles customer advice in house.
Paul Folden is anticipating sales of just under 4 mio euro this year. The company is expecting to achieve substantial growth in the UK, where it has negotiated a tie-up with a major supermarket chain. Exports, accounting for 40 per cent of total sales, are also expected to be strengthened. Countries in which the company is represented include Denmark, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Portugal and Scandinavia. The immediate focus is on filling in the key gaps in France and Italy.

The product quality has been improved to bring market success, and Snoozzzeee Dog gives its customers a one-year guarantee on all products. Considerable attention has also been paid to the serviceability of the products. “We realise that being able to wash your dog’s bed in the washing machine and tumble dryer are real benefits to busy pet owners”, explains Paul Folden.
The new S/S03 collection comprises three product lines:
