Tetra strengthens its team
The Tetra aquatics company has strengthened its management team. Michael Gerkmann is the new sales and field organisation manager for Germany, a post he held previously for five years in another company. Another new face at Tetra is Rüdiger Wierz, who was recently appointed key account manager responsible for a number of German customers. Prior to his move Wierz was employed by Krombacher Brauerei as regional sales manager and latterly as sales coordinator.

Rodi Petfood acquired „Techni Cal“
Dutch pet food manufacturer Rodi Petfood has acquired the premium food brand “Techni Cal“ from the US group Del Monte. “Techni-Cal“ is to be produced for the European market in future at the former Nestlé plant in Leuth, Germany. The plant was bought by Rodi Petfood last year.
Changing the guard at Iams
Staff changes have taken place at the German subsidiary of Iams Pet Food. Matthias Kräußle, previously working in customer marketing at Iams Pet Food, has now taken over the position of national key account manager for Germany following the departure of Ralf Klingebiel. Klingebiel will be responsible as manager for Germany and Austria together with Inter-Pet AG for the strategic orientation of the “Nutro“ brand in future.
Tropica plans a change of generation
Tropica Aquarium Plants A/S, the Danish company specialising in aquatic plants, is considering taking new investors or proprietors on board to coincide with a planned change of generation. The move is aimed at securing continued positive development and rational growth for Tropica, which has been in existence for over 30 years. Tropica’s founder, Holger Windeløv, is looking to free himself of all financial and corporate obligations in the company in the next few years. “The healthy financial position and satisfactory earning power of Tropica are highly positive factors that we shall use patiently and with care to find the best investor”, a company spokesman commented.
Zoomarket in Warsaw
The third international zoological and pet supplies exhibition Zoomarket will take place in Warsaw from 10 to 12 September. The fair, a combination of trade fair and consumer show, is regarded as a meeting place for Polish firms and also for companies from neighbouring countries. The outline programme includes numerous scientific conferences and discussions open to the public. Zoomarket 2003 attracted 19 109 visitors.
