The Italian pet market has expanded dynamically in recent years and offers enormous growth potential to internationally oriented companies in particular. A continuous increase in sales in the pet food segment shows that industrially produced foods are steadily gaining in importance. As in other industrial countries, the pet has a greater social role to play as the object of affection and attention within the family. In addition, the different marketing channels for pet food products are becoming increasingly active and thus provide new stimuli to the market. In view of the growing variety of products, the retail areas of pet stores and departments are becoming ever larger. As already seen in other countries, there is a growing trend in Italy also towards the closure of small pet shops and speciality stores gaining strength.
Against the background of a growing market, interest in Zoomark remains as great as ever. The high proportion of foreign exhibitors – 40 per cent – from five continents attests to the international character of the fair. Thus 20 companies are expected to occupy the America hall and 30 will take up residence in the China hall. The fair is also backed by prominent foreign associations and state institutions. The US manufacturers’ association APPMA and the consulate general of the United States are lending valuable assistance in setting up the America and China halls.
Companies from the USA will be out in force in Bologna.
Apart from an overview of the latest pet products, the diary of events during the fair also offers a seminar for vets on the subject of further training in first aid and emergency medicine, and a round table conference focusing on international mega trends in the industry. All the innovations in the sector will be unveiled on a new product stand close to the entrances. To promote contact between companies, the fair organisers have come up with the idea of a “Classified ads” stand in the service centre, where exhibitors and visitors can advertise what they are looking for or what they have to offer as agents. The service is free.
Well-known companies like Royal Canin are exhibiting at the fair.
Further information about the fair can be obtained from the Internet. The website of Zoomark has all the details of the event and includes a list of exhibitors with links to the company websites containing information about the firms and their products.
