Mostert Absorbents: "Treading a reliable path over the years"

The company has recently invested several million euro in expansion and new equipment for its cat litter and bird sand production processes and logistics. Managing director Hans van den Berg described the former family business as treading a reliable path into the new millennium. “We have been supplying quality products for years, produced on modern machinery from good raw materials. This is one of the foundations of our success.” In addition to around 120 private label products, the company manufactures its own brand, “Kitty Friend”. According to Hans van den Berg, this is becoming increasingly influential and well known. The company’s policy is to offer cats and their owners good, familiar products and to complement these with well thought-out and developed new products. “We are now seeking further growth of the company in Eastern and Northern Europe”, says Hans van den Berg.

Mostert’s 50 000 m2 plant lies directly on the „Nieuwe Waterweg“ of the port of Rotterdam. Vessels with a capacity of up to 10 000 t can berth at the dock for unloading. With four storage silos each with a capacity of 15 000 m2 and seven further silos holding 6 500 m2 each, the company has a storage capacity of 90 000 t. Different packaging forms are filled and packed onto pallets on the twelve packing lines, which are supplied automatically by 40 tipping silos. Up to 4 500 pallets are stored daily, with up to 30 lorries leaving the seven loading stations each day.    phg
