Based in New York, Penn Plax has been in the pet business for over fifty years. The company has gradually consolidated its position worldwide over the years as one of the leading suppliers of accessories. It is highly satisfied with the financial trend in Europe. Since 1 January, the launch date for the euro, Penn Plax has had a European price list and a policy with regard to its trading partners that is implemented uniformly in most markets. Outside Spain, Portugal and Italy, where Penn Plax works with sole importers, the company supplies its trading partners directly. It is working flat out in Europe to improve its position further. Penn Plax claims leadership of the accessories market in Great Britain and France, where the European Penn Plax headquarters have been based for over ten years in Saintes, in south-west France close to Bordeaux.
The European headquarters is located in Saintes. The photo doesn’t yet show the new building.
The southern European and British market is serviced completely from here, and the company’s European headquarters is expected to be extended by May from 4 000 m² to 8 000 m². The facility has over 4 200 pallet storage spaces and an automated ordering system that is linked round the clock to the company’s main office in New York. Penn Plax can thus supply any country within two to three days.
Predicting great potential for the future for Penn Plax: European chief Bruno Sollier.
With the opening of a new 3 500 m² branch in Germany in January, Penn Plax has already created the logistical and sales conditions for stepping up its operations in Central Europe also. Bruno Sollier, Managing Director of Penn Plax Europe, states that the primary aim is to service the markets in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux states and Eastern Europe even more effectively from Grafschaft-Gelsdorf, near Bonn. 2 200 pallet storage spaces enable Penn Plax to deliver to these countries within two days. The company also has a sales office in Kent in Great Britain.
With 2 500 different items on offer, the company maintains a considerable range in Europe that covers all product groups. Penn Plax is especially proud of the Warner Bros. product lines distributed exclusively in Europe, “Looney Tunes”, “Tom & Jerry” and “Scooby Doo”, which in addition to unusual toys also include feeding bowls and care products as well as beds and carrier bags.
