A new Belgian non-profit organisation, Better Life for Pets & People (BLPP), has officially been launched with the aim of uniting stakeholders across the pet sector under a shared mission. BLPP seeks to bridge existing gaps in knowledge, data and initiatives surrounding the pet-human bond, according to their inaugural press statement.
The organisation highlights that the connection between pets and people has measurable and meaningful effects. With more than 50 per cent of Belgian households owning a pet, BLPP sees a need to consolidate research and initiatives focused on the pet–human bond, which it describes as currently too fragmented.
According to the founders, BLPP operates on principles of trust, cooperation and shared responsibility. The launch event brought together partners and stakeholders who support this collaborative approach.
The organisation’s Board of Directors brings together experts from complementary fields: Erik Lambrecht (Chair), Kevin Rogiers (Vice-Chair), Olivia Maes (Secretary), Lies Beernaert (Scientific Advisory), Jonas Vergauwen (Life Animal Expert), Frank Ingelaere (Treasurer) and Cyriel Van Steen (Communication & PR).
With this leadership team in place, Better Life for Pets & People intends to translate its ambition into concrete action, positioning itself as a catalyst for partnerships that unite the pet sector and strengthen society.
