Tiendanimal has outlined the key trends it anticipates for 2026 in a press release. The care of and coexistence with pets will evolve towards a more conscious, innovative and responsible approach at every level, it says. Therefore, Tiendanimal expects this year to be marked by a more holistic view of wellbeing, the search for premium and personalised products, the integration of technology into everyday life and a strong commitment to sustainability.
Caroline Arrú, Chief Marketing and Customer Officer as well as co-sponsor of Tiendanimal’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Committee, states that these trends reflect an increasingly close relationship between people and animals, in which quality, innovation and respect are becoming the pillars of coexistence. This bond continues to grow in Spanish households, where pets are already present in more than 50 per cent of homes, according to the press release.
Physical and emotional wellbeing
In 2026, wellbeing will be firmly established as the central axis of the relationship with pets, Tiendanimal states. It is no longer just about meeting basic needs, but about ensuring a full and balanced life, with greater emphasis on specialised and functional nutrition, targeted supplements, exercise routines tailored to individual needs and preventive healthcare.
Along these same lines, emotional health will continue to gain importance, driving demand for interactive toys, safe spaces and services designed to reduce stress and anxiety.
'More and more people understand that emotional health is just as important as physical health and, as a result, in 2026 we will see a rise in solutions that promote calm and positive stimulation,' said Arrú.
Premiumisation and personalisation
The trend towards premiumisation will also continue to gain momentum, with increased demand for high-quality products made using natural ingredients and sustainable processes, the release continues. Against this backdrop, personalisation will be key, with diets adapted to age, size and specific needs, accessories designed for different lifestyles and exclusive services that strengthen the bond between humans and animals.
Technological innovation
Over the coming year, digitalisation will significantly transform the way people care for and interact with their pets. As such, we will see the consolidation of tools such as smart devices to monitor health, apps that help manage daily routines and online services for veterinary consultations, anticipates the Spanish pet retailer.
'Technology will not only bring convenience, but also the safety and prevention essential for pet wellbeing, as it offers many benefits that were previously unattainable. Among them, anticipating health issues and improving quality of life,' explained Arrú, who also stressed that 'technology applied to the animal world is not just another trend, but a highly effective tool for significantly improving pets’ wellbeing and quality of life.'
Environmental sustainability
Environmental awareness will also be essential when choosing products and services in order to help minimise environmental impact. Factors such as the use of recycled materials, biodegradable packaging and environmentally responsible production processes will make a difference and will be decisive in purchasing decisions.
'Environmental commitment is non-negotiable, and more and more sectors are embracing the circular economy and waste reduction. This is not, and should not be, alien to the world of pets, because wanting the best for our planet also means wanting the best for all of us: humans and animals alike,' Caroline Arrú concluded Tiendanimals press release.
