The Nutriment Company (TNC) is ending 2025 with another significant step: its tenth acquisition this year alone. With the acquisition of Zoo Factory, a leading Polish supplier of premium treats, pet food and accessories, TNC is entering one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing pet markets in the European Union, according to a press release from the company, which is owned by Scandinavian private equity firm Axcel. This acquisition marks a key milestone in the group's European expansion strategy.
Poland has established itself as one of the most important growth markets in the European pet segment in recent years, TNC points out. Reasons for this include the increasing number of pet owners, the trend towards high-quality, natural pet food and strong growth in sales figures in brick-and-mortar stores and online channels. In 2024, the market value exceeded PLN 5 billion (around EUR 1.16 billion) – an increase of around 10 per cent over the previous year and well above the EU average.
Industry experts expect this growth trend to continue in the coming years. Against this backdrop, the acquisition of Zoo Factory gives TNC a direct presence in an important, promising market. Zoo Factory is a wholly Polish company with over 25 years of experience in the pet industry. Its products enjoy a high level of trust among Polish consumers and are available in around 250 varieties.
Multiple awards
Zoo Factory has already won several consumer awards for quality, trust and product excellence. The business model is based on a flexible delivery network and outsourced logistics structures, allowing the company to focus consistently on growth, brand development and customer relationships, reports TNC. Its strong position in food retail enables TNC to rapidly scale its own product portfolio and drive expansion into specialist stores, independent retailers and new omnichannel channels.
The existing management team at Zoo Factory will remain on board for the next phase of growth, including Managing Director Sławomir Musur and Purchasing Manager Beata Bonalska. Their deep understanding of the market and long-standing customer relationships are crucial for the successful expansion of TNC's presence in Poland.
In the first phase of integration, the focus will be on introducing TNC's expanded product portfolio, starting with dietary supplements, a category with steadily growing consumer demand in Poland. Customers will have access to TNC's best-selling supplement products as early as the first month. As the integration progresses, selected Zoo Factory products will be transferred to TNC's own production facilities to further increase efficiency, consistency and innovation.
‘Becoming part of The Nutriment Company opens up an exciting new chapter for us,’ explains Sławomir Musur, Managing Director of Zoo Factory. ‘With their strong brand portfolio and our established market position, we can offer even more added value to retailers and pet owners in Poland.’
‘With TNC's support, we can expand our range, strengthen our innovative power and respond even more specifically to the changing needs of the Polish market,’ adds Beata Bonalska, Purchasing Manager at Zoo Factory.
‘Entering the Polish market is a powerful conclusion to an extraordinary year of growth,’ says Anders Kristiansen, CEO of TNC. ‘Together, we are excellently positioned to take a leading role in one of Europe's most dynamic pet markets.’
