Gambol Pet and Aker Qrill sign global strategic partnership

The Gambol Pet Food Group and Aker Qrill Company have officially signed a global strategic cooperation agreement at Gambol Pet's Shanghai R&D Center. This partnership elevates their relationship from long-term supply chain partners to strategic allies, focusing on pet nutrition innovation and sustainability, Aker Qrill reports in a media release.

Gambol Pet’s President Stephanie Du remarked that the company's rapid growth with brands like Myfoodie and Fregate is due to building products to world-class standards from day one. The decision to partner with Aker Qrill, a leader in krill nutrition and sustainable harvesting, was a natural fit.

Aker Qrill Company, MSC-certified since 2006, places ecological responsibility at the core of its business. With proprietary Eco-Harvesting technology, the company minimizes impact on the Antarctic marine ecosystem. The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) allows harvesting only about 1% of the krill biomass in the fishing area 48 each year, leaving 99% for wildlife like whales and penguins.  ‘Aker's approach aligns perfectly with our core belief in respecting the nature of dogs and cats,’ said Du.

The strategic partnership will focus on three key areas: Joint R&D – combining Aker Qrill Company's marine nutrition research and Gambol Pet's data-driven insights on pet behavior to develop exclusive nutrition solutions; ESG Collaboration – promoting sustainability in animal welfare and marine protection across Gambol Pet's supply chain; and Brand Co-creation – sharing a ‘science + sustainability’ message with global consumers via joint initiatives.

During the ceremony, Bjørn Wallentin, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Aker Qrill Company, presented Gambol Pet with a symbolic ‘boarding pass’—an invitation to join a future Antarctic journey focused on penguin conservation.

Du accepted, stating: ‘Protecting the ocean is the most meaningful long-term commitment we can make—for pets and future generations.’ After the signing, Aker Qrill representatives toured Gambol Pet's Shanghai R&D Center to observe how premium krill ingredients are transformed into tailored pet nutrition solutions.
