Marsapet GmbH has been making a name for itself since the beginning of the year with a vegan dry food for dogs (PET worldwide reported) that sets new standards in pet nutrition. The owner-managed family business from Swisstal (Germany) is now launching an expansion of its product range in the form of snacks and wet food. According to the company, Marsavet MicroBell wet food in a 300-gram tray is the world's first wet dog food based on microbial proteins.

At the heart of this world first is FeedKind, which Marsapet describes as a ‘revolutionary protein source’ obtained through a natural fermentation process. Marsapet already worked closely with protein specialist Calysta during the development of the dry food. The new food recipes were also coordinated and further developed in this collaboration. The protein is bio-identical to animal protein, provides all essential amino acids and ensures an optimal supply of nutrients for dogs.

Furthermore, MicroBell differs from conventional dog food in that it neither consumes large amounts of resources nor contributes to factory farming, the company explains. The protein source is produced through a microbial fermentation process that uses methane as its sole energy source.

‘The particular challenge was to achieve the perfect stability and structure in wet food. But we succeeded,’ explains Bert Fuhrmann, head of sales at Marsapet, proudly. ‘Our wet food is now ready to conquer the world.’
