The Purina Institute has published a new handbook on healthy pet nutrition for veterinarians. The company explains that pet owners trust their veterinarian above all others when it comes to pet food recommendations. The company also states that 71% of dogs and cats are currently on a well-pet diet, which makes the need for sound, science-based nutritional recommendations greater than ever.
In order to support veterinary teams in these important conversations, the Purina Institute has published the Purina Institute Handbook of Canine and Feline Well-Pet Nutrition (PurinaInstitute.com). With contributions from 54 experts from 20 countries, this free, product-independent e-book is a practical yet scientific resource for nutritional counselling for healthy dogs and cats. It is designed to equip veterinary teams with the knowledge and tools they need.
Following on from the Purina Institute Handbook of Canine and Feline Clinical Nutrition, introduced in 2023, the Handbook of Canine and Feline Well-Pet Nutrition addresses the many questions and challenges that veterinarians face when discussing nutrition with their clients. The information covers important topics such as:
- The functions of various nutrients
- Specialised nutrition for different life stages
- Proactive nutrition strategies
- Effective communication techniques for discussing nutrition with pet owners.
