Ebay celebrates its 30th anniversary

In September, Ebay will turn 30 – a milestone that the marketplace operator would like to celebrate together with its retailers and community. To this end, Ebay is inviting guests to Berlin on 25 September for the ‘Ebay Open’. The anniversary will be celebrated at Brewdog Dogtap from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The event will not only look back, but above all look ahead – with fresh ideas for the future of e-commerce, the company explains.

Retailers can expect a day of practical insights, strategic outlooks and direct exchange with the Ebay community. The programme includes a look at the future of Ebay, which will be provided by Dr Saskia Meier-Andrae, Managing Director of Ebay Germany.

The organisers highlight the presentation by Nitzan Mekel-Bobrov as one of the key moments: Ebay's Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer will provide an insight into the company's global artificial intelligence programme. As an AI scientist and technology strategist, Mekel-Bobrov is working to build a comprehensive AI ecosystem at Ebay with the goal of providing customers with AI-based experiences and deeply embedding artificial intelligence throughout the company, according to a press release. His team focuses on developing innovations that make sellers successful and creating personalised experiences for buyers. In addition, current market outlooks will be presented and the growing importance of Generation Z for online retail will be discussed. 

Participants in the eBay masterclasses will then be able to deepen their knowledge of key aspects of selling and learn directly from Ebay experts. In addition, there will be an overview of key third-party tools and solutions, with specific approaches to multichannel, shipping, legal regulations and other business-related areas.
