Proteine Resources, a Poland-based biotech start-up that develops functional proteins from insects, has just raised 9.5 mio euro in blended financing from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator, one of Europe’s most competitive innovation programmes.

Proteine Resources says that this funding will enable the company to launch the world’s first fully autonomous insect protein factory, deploy a modular, low-energy design that can be adapted to any location and use sidestream feedstock, and commercialise a 1:1 functional analogue of beef for the premium pet food market.
