The UK pet store chain Jollyes has announced that new stores will be opened in Belfast, Newport and Rotherham before Easter. A new distribution centre in Middlewich will also commence operation in the second week of February. Here the company’s long-standing partner Wincanton will pick and deliver up to 25 per cent more cases per annum to supply all Jollyes branches with over 10 000 consignments per year.

The three new stores will take Jollyes past the 100-store mark for the first time. Dates for the new openings have been given as 23 February (Belfast Connswater, Northern Ireland), 1 March (Newport in Gwent) and 22 March (Rotherham, South Yorkshire). Since the start of 2022, Jollyes has doubled the size of its branches and opened 34 new stores. The new Jollyes store in Newport will be the 100th when it opens on St. David's Day (1 March).

Jollyes has also reported that its business over Christmas saw like-for-like sales growth of 13 per cent in the five weeks up to 31 December, while overall growth in this period was 25 per cent. The last week before Christmas in particular was the strongest seven-day trading period in the retailer’s history, with almost 45 per cent more customers than the previous year and 26 per cent more on a like-for-like basis.
