The Bremen-based private label specialist Saturn Petcare, the pet care division of Heristo Aktiengesellschaft headquartered in Bad Rothenfelde, is pursuing its strategy of internationalisation with a research and development initiative in China.

Employing 1 000 people and annual sales of over two billion consumer units, Saturn Petcare operates two plants, in Bremen and Hattem in the Netherlands. In 2021, the company also launched a plant in the USA.

According to the company, the aim of its German-Chinese research and development initiative is to ensure effective and professional product development and quality assurance in China and to strengthen its competitiveness in the dynamic Chinese market and in Asia as a whole. During a visit to Germany, representatives of the Chinese company Pet Ideal signed a cooperation agreement to this effect with Saturn Petcare.

“The Chinese pet food market holds considerable strategic significance for us,” said Christian Schröder, CEO of Heristo’s pet care division and member of the Heristo board of Directors.
