The Fressnapf Group has presented five innovation awards in Düsseldorf. Products and services in various categories submitted by more than 100 applicants were judged by a high-calibre jury. Award-winners received a seal, media and consultancy services worth 50 000 euros and a listing in the Fressnapf Ecosystem.

“The services and products of the award-winners will enrich our Ecosystem and support the development of Fressnapf into a one-stop supplier for all items related to pets,” said Fressnapf CEO Dr Johannes Steegmann. Chosen by the Fressnapf specialist concepts Pro, fnX and a jury, the award-winners are listed below.

  • In the physical services category: Pezz. Using the urine screening test for dogs and cats, samples are tested at home for seven values. Scanning and analysis is via the Pezz app. The values are explained in the app and are checked by specialists.
  • In the digital services category: PocDoc Pet. This enables even lay persons to perform first aid on pets. The system consists of a “first aid kit” and interactive app, which is also available offline.
  • In the start-up category: Because Animals. The biotech start-up’s mission is to develop abattoir-free, nutritious, ecologically sustainable meat for pet food.
  • In the scale-up category: Mammaly. An assortment of food supplements for dogs and potentially also for cats containing natural ingredients. The treats come in nine varieties targeting many typical health issues.
  • In the sustainability category: Project Blu with vegan dog collars, leashes, harnesses and poo bag holders made from apple leather. Apple leather reduces the carbon footprint by 99 per cent compared with conventional leather.
