DIY chain Lowe's and the pet store chain Petco have announced a pilot programme for a store-in-store concept. According to a press release, established products, services and expert knowledge relating to the home and pets are to be combined in selected branches of Lowe's. The first store-in-store concept will probably be unveiled in early February in the Lowe's store in Alamo Ranch, Texas. It is then going to be expanded to 14 other Lowe's locations in Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina by the end of March 2022.
It is reported that the joint Lowe's and Petco branches are likely also to offer a selection of Petco services for pets. These will include Vetco vaccination clinics, microchipping, prescription-only pest treatments and mobile grooming in certain locations and at certain times. Knowledgeable Petco staff will be deployed in the pilot stores during peak hours.
Every week, over 300 000 employees in more than 2 200 Lowe's branches serve around 20 mio customers in the United States and Canada.
