The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sent a warning letter to Nestlé Purina Petcare regarding a manufacturing facility in Allentown in the American state of Pennsylvania. According to the FDA, an inspection in September 2014 revealed "significant deviations from canned foods regulations, among them a variety of low-acid dog and cat foods”. According to US media channels, a Nestlé spokesman has said that the company fully intends to cooperate with the FDA. He stressed that the company is confident that there are no food safety issues or risks to pet health from the company's products. The spokesman, Schopp, said that officials are in the process of advising the FDA of the measures it intends to take to correct the production errors. The FDA has said it requires a written response addressing the alleged violations, and that “failure to take appropriate corrective action may subject your firm and products to further actions, such as emergency permit control, injunction or seizure”.
