Shortcomings in Swiss pet supplies retailing

The Swiss animal welfare organisation STS took a close look at 36 pet stores in Switzerland this year. It concluded that the Swiss pet retailers, even chains such as Fressnapf and Qualipet, had a number of shortcomings. The stores were assessed with regard to how pets for sale were kept and the sales advice offered, with the focus on small animals and rabbits. The store ranges were also examined for articles that are considered detrimental to animal welfare in Switzerland (training aids for dogs, small animal wheels, harnesses etc.).
