The pet retail chain wants to increase its market share to 20 per cent

The Australian pet retail chain Greencross aims to increase its market share from 7.5 per cent to over 20 per cent, according to a report in the pet industry newsletter Pet Industry News. Greencross currently operates 156 Petbarn and City Farmers stores across Australia, 26 Animates stores in New Zealand and 116 veterinary practices. In the current financial year the company expects to open at least 15 new pet stores, in addition to the 42 City Farmers pet stores it bought in July. Greencross also intends to buy more veterinary practices to generate an additional $15 mio to $20 mio in annual revenue.
