Following the sudden passing of Joels Malmström, the owner of Back to Nature, the future of the Swedish aquarium back panel specialist has been decided in recent weeks. The German firm Aqualogistik GmbH has acquired the company and intends to restore the renowned Back to Nature brand to its former glory. The family of the late proprietor will no longer be involved in Back to Nature, but has received a generous financial settlement, according to Aqualogistik. Production of the high-quality back panels will continue to take place in Kopparberg, Sweden in the future. To deliver to pet supplies retailers more quickly, Aqualogistik has constructed a European central warehouse in Möhnsee-Wippringsen, from which the entire Back to Nature range should be available, probably by February or March. Aqualogistik also intends to carry on working with Hagen Germany and The Pet Factory, which distributed the Swedish company’s products in Germany hitherto, Aqualogistik GmbH has extensive, in-depth experience of the pet supplies sector and has gained a good reputation in recent years, above all in the garden pond segment. Aqualogistik managing director Uwe Sporleder regards the takeover of Back to Nature as a good opportunity for his company to expand its existing activities in the aquatics segment.
