The UK-based Ethical Company Organisation has researched the ethical quality of the dog and cat food sector. The results of the study are published in The Good Shopping Guide, where consumers can compare the ethical rankings of brands across a wide variety of sectors. As the organisation points out, a large percentage of pet food brands have received high index scores, making the pet food sector one of the highest ranking sectors for ethics. The company that fared best in the study was Lily’s Kitchen with an index score of 100, followed by Yarrah (95) and Burns Pet Nutrition (91 points). Mars brand Whiskas, Eukanuba and Iams from P&G Petcare and Friskies, Felix and Bakers Complete from Nestlé scored less well. The Ethical Company Organisation is a self-sustaining limited company with a long tradition in the UK. It pushes for higher standards of corporate responsibility for the benefit of the environment, animal welfare and human rights.
