Production was stopped due to an explosion in May. Since then part of the production has been relocated to other manufacturers

The Dutch pet food manufacturer De Haan Petfood has successfully re-started the production of pet food. The production in De Haan’s facility in Nieuwkoop was stopped due to an explosion on 7 May, which caused severe damage to the production line. The explosion happened in one of the so-called retorts, in which cans are sterilized under pressure. Over the last couple of weeks the damaged part of the production facility has been rebuilt and tested. Shortly after the incident De Haan Petfood managed to relocate a good part of the production to other pet food manufacturers in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe. De Haan Petfood is a wholesale wet pet food manufacturer. The company produces cans based on meat chunks in gravy. Products are sold under own brands like Rokus, Astor, Pet, Wodan, Max & Mickey, Ferry & Mimi as well as under different private labels. According to De Haan Petfood, its products are exported to over 40 countries worldwide.
