Jan Smulders, one of the owners of GPP, is joining the Scholtus management team as the new managing director

Global Pet Products Holding (GPP), an investment firm active in the pet industry, has announced that GPP has made an investment in Scholtus, a leading supplier of dog and cat treats in Europe. Jan Smulders, one of the owners of GPP, has joined the Scholtus management team as new managing director, enabling director Eddy Nijhof to fully focus on business development, marketing and sales, says the company.
Since 2007 Scholtus has more than doubled its revenues through autonomous growth, according to the company. In addition to this, Scholtus accelerated its growth via the 2011 acquisition of Proline Petfood, a leading supplier of natural snacks and treats. Proline Petfood was integrated into the Scholtus operations and has grown its revenues by more than 30 per cent in the last year. Scholtus and GPP are now joining forces, significantly strengthening the business and facilitating the next stage of expansion of the firm by stepping up the pace for new product introductions and accelerating expansion in new markets and distribution channels, say the two companies.
