Production facilities to be expanded significantly for the manufacture of single-serve pouches/New production plant to be commissioned in January 2014

The German subsidiary of Mars Petcare has recently received good news from the group management in the USA. The American parent company has approved an investment of € 17.4 mio in the plant in Verden an der Aller. The company says that the sum is to be spent purely on expanding the production facilities for the manufacture of single-serve pouches. New filling systems, autoclaves, high-bay storage systems and a new packing line should ensure substantially increased output in the future.
As well as funding an increase in capacity of over 10 per cent, the injection of finance into the German plant will also create 28 new jobs, according to Mars. Work has already started with the aim of commissioning the new production facility in January 2014. The expansion should be complete in eight months. Over 50 000 t of pet food in single-serve pouches will then be supplied to the German and European market from Verden from next year onwards.
