The American pet food manufacturer WellPet is investing $ 20 mio in the construction of a new dog food plant in Mishawaka in the state of Indiana, according to various reports on the Internet. The plant is expected to be complete by September, and WellPet is creating 40 new jobs as a result. The new building will serve as a warehouse and distribution centre. The addition will be located to the east of the existing WellPet building and will double production capacity to 80 000 tons of dry pet food a year. WellPet manufactures the brands “Wellness”, “Eagle Pack”, “Old Mother”, “Hubbard” and “Holistic Select”. The company was created in 2009 from a merger between two manufacturers, Eagle Pack Pet Foods, founded in 1970, and Wellness/Old Mother Hubbard.
