The Pet Care Trade Association supports the day celebrating independent retailers

The UK’s Pet Care Trade Association is supporting Independents’ Day, a national campaign to celebrate the UK’s independent retailers, which takes place on 4 July. The Independents’ Day is being organised by Skillsmart Retail, the Sector Skills Council for Retail. It has been created to encourage the public to buy at least one item from an independent retailer on the day and celebrate diversity on the high street. Janet Nunn, chief executive of the Pet Care Trade Association, said: “For a pet owner, nothing beats the experience of a vibrant, local in-store offering with engaged, expert sales people to discuss their pet’s precise needs. But we mustn’t take the high street for granted, which is why the Pet Care Trade Association signed up to the Independents’ Day campaign to get people shopping in their local independent stores on 4 July.” Retailers are encouraged to download the campaign posters – which can be personalised with their own logos – from www.retailindieday.com to celebrate the day in their stores and join forces with other retailers and town centre teams to hold special events to capture the public’s imagination.
