Spectrum Brands Holdings, owner of FURminator, is closing the pet grooming company’s St. Louis headquarters by the end of September and eliminating the 31 jobs there. The operations will be combined with Spectrum’s United Pet Group operations in Cincinnati. “Certainly there are expected cost savings in integrating or merging the headquarters in St. Louis with the buyer, United Pet Group’s headquarters,” said Dave Prichard, a Spectrum spokesman. Employees at the headquarters of FURminator were told of the job losses last week. Workers are being offered severance pay and retention bonuses if they stay as long as the company asks them to, Prichard said.
