Rondo Food acquires Gaines

The German pet product manufacturer, Rondo Food, has acquired the company Gaines Europe Ltd, which is based in Ireland. Both companies manufacture treats for dogs and cats and have complementary product ranges, according to Rondo. The German company says that the production in Ireland, involving around 80 employees, will continue to the previous extent. Gaines Europe Ltd was built up in the mid-1990s by Canadian-British investor Peter Williams and his partner Paul Dempsey. The company produces treat products for retail companies in Europe and beyond at Arklow on the east coast of Ireland. Paul Dempsey will continue to work for Gaines. The primary aim of acquiring the Irish manufacturer was to strengthen operations outside Europe, said Thilo Kühne, marketing director of Rondo.
