It wasn't only the visitor numbers that were up at Pats; there was a marked increase in the exhibitor contingent also compared with the previous year. The considerable interest shown in the fair by the industry was also reflected in the 260 new products presented at this year's show. Some foreign exhibitors appeared at the fair alongside the leading British companies, and even a couple of pet store chains from abroad were sighted at the show. On the whole, however, Pats Telford is primarily a trade show for pet product retailers based in the Midlands and northern England. Gordon Thomas from the organising company Impact Exhibitions appeared extremely satisfied with how the fair had gone: "Exhibitors told us they met with the key decision makers and buyers, and that was good to hear because we put in place measures that ensured the right people attended. Since such stands were positioned in the centre of the exhibition area, they had a perceptible influence on the ambience.

Where cat accessories and gifts were concerned, the Kong Company was out in front with its Cat Laser Teaser. The judges chose…
