It is 14 years since the company began exporting its products after being set up in 1992 by Stéphane Chevigny, an expert in absorbency. In 2005, the success of its move into international markets made it necessary to enlarge its production facilities by 1 700 m² and to install state-of-the-art production technology. At this point Intersand was already supplying cat litter products to 15 countries. In 2009, the company made a fresh investment in extending its production capacity and in in-house research and development. Intersand’s presence in Europe, North and South America, Asia and the Middle East has grown exponentially in the last few years. Today the company manufactures and delivers products and service to its customers in more than 26 countries. Unique products “Our products are unique because our company is unique,” says Stéphane Chevigny, founder and president. “First, we manufacture only cat litter products. We do only one thing and try to do it perfectly.” Stéphane Chevigny sees his business as hygiene solutions for cats, not just a regular cat litter. He says that the team behind him always thinks about the needs of the cats and their owners, which is translated into the brand signature “Smart Care. Happy Pets”. The fine granular clay litter is intended to provide superior absorbency and comfort for the pet. Intersand’s environmental awareness means that it creates litters containing only compatible natural materials, thus guaranteeing products that meet the high health, safety and environmental standards internationally. “We manufacture cat litter under both private label and our own brands,” Stéphane Chevigny continues. “Under precise conditions, we produce private label or controlled brands for large retailers around the globe”. He states that there is a market for both. Intersand offers clumping and non-clumping litter, with or without fragrance, in different packaging types like bags, sift-proof boxes, etc. The company’s own flagship brand “Extreme Classic” is the most successful product line at Intersand and is distributed around the globe. Focusing on innovation Stéphane Chevigny names the company’s mission as “to improve and simplify animal hygiene through innovation”.
