ʻA Different Breedʻ nominated for three Daytime Emmys

The documentary series ʻA Different Breed‘, produced by Purina Films, has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in three categories. The nine episodes highlight the special bond between people and their dogs in dog sports.

The series has been nominated in the categories Outstanding Lifestyle Programme, Outstanding Editing and Outstanding Directing. The Daytime Emmy Awards recognise outstanding achievements in daytime television and streaming services, including in the fields of lifestyle, documentary, travel and education.

About the programme: ʻA Different Breed‘ follows 18 human-dog teams on their journey to the national final of the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge. The focus is on the participants, their dogs and the close bond between humans and animals. The series also offers insights into the teams’ lives away from the competition.

The production is backed by Purina Films, InkBlot Narratives and WPP Media. According to Purina, this format sees the company placing greater emphasis on entertaining storytelling that highlights the role of pets in their owners’ lives.

The Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge has been one of the best-known competitions in dog sports for almost 30 years. The disciplines include agility, Frisbee, slalom races and jumping competitions, amongst others.

The winners of the Daytime Emmy Awards will be announced on 30 October 2026. ʻA Different Breed‘ is available on Prime Video in the US. A second series is currently in production.
