Two high-calibre conferences will inform professionals in the pet industry about forward-looking trends and topics on the eve of Interzoo 2026, which will take place in Nuremberg from 12 to 15 May: Petfood Forum Europe and the Interzoo Sustainability Conference on 11 May will kick off the week-long event at the world's leading trade fair for pet supplies.

The Petfood Forum Europe is aimed at professionals from the pet food production sector. The one-day event focuses on technologies and innovations, nutrition, ingredients, processing, safety and market trends in the field of pet food and snacks. The programme is aimed at professionals from the pet food manufacturing industry, brand owners, raw material suppliers, product developers, nutritionists and business executives, and includes ten expert presentations and practical insights to support product development and strategic decision-making.

‘The Petfood Forum Europe conference programme offers insights into every stage of pet food production: from the introduction of transparent and comparable life cycle analyses to the environmental impact of processed ingredients (or ingredients obtained from rendering) and novel raw material sources, to AI-supported audits and the latest technical advances in freeze-drying technology,’ says Debbie Phillips-Donaldson, editor-in-chief of the organising magazine Petfood Industry.

The Interzoo Sustainability Conference will take place for the first time on the same day. This new format offers CSR and sustainability managers as well as experts from across the pet industry a unique international platform to learn about trends and developments in sustainability, discuss new approaches and network.

Renowned researchers, industry pioneers and UN representative Elliott Harris, as keynote speakers at the conference, will explain key sustainability trends and developments based on current studies and best practice examples. In addition, the Sustainability Award, which recognises forward-looking ecological, social and economic initiatives, will be presented for the first time at the conference.

‘With the new conference and the Interzoo Sustainability Award, we are giving sustainability even more visibility and significance during the eventful Interzoo week,’ says Dr Rowena Arzt, Head of Trade Fairs at Interzoo organiser WZF. ‘In this way, we want to inspire and support the pet industry in continuing to work on sustainable solutions and business models.’

The participation fees for the events include coffee breaks, lunch, a joint networking reception, a multi-day ticket for Interzoo and a public transport ticket. During the joint reception in the evening, participants of both conferences will have the opportunity to network.
