New tech for finding lost pets

A new technology is currently being tested in Finland to help find lost pets. It is estimated that thousands of pets run away from their owners every year, and the rapid dissemination of information is crucial to finding them. With the technology being tested by pet supply chain Musti ja Mirri, a missing pet report submitted online immediately appears on outdoor advertising screens in the area where the animal disappeared.

This is intended to speed up and target the search, complementing traditional posters and social media updates. When an animal goes missing, the missing pet report submitted on the Karkurit.fi website automatically appears on outdoor screens in the area corresponding to the postcode. According to Musti, the website is Finland's most widely used platform for reporting missing pets. The missing pet report is free of charge and appears on the screens around the clock between regular advertisements.

Musti ja Mirri operates nationwide, and we have the ability to make missing furry family members visible from south to north and east to west.

The website Karkurit.fi, which specialises in missing pet reports, has been active in Finland for 22 years. Last year, nearly 2,000 missing pets were reported on the website. Most of the reports concerned cats.

According to Musti ja Mirri, demand for GPS trackers for pets is also on the rise. This suggests that pets are increasingly seen as important family members whose safety owners want to ensure so that they return home safely.
